We work with primary care and behavioral health practices, urgent care clinics, specialty groups and federally qualified health centers, because students come to us for NP clinical placement in every specialty. We coordinate directly with schools on NP preceptor placement for their students. Individual providers can become a preceptor directly instead.
You need a provider who can supervise a student and a patient population that matches what the student needs to learn. If you have both, you can become a clinical rotation site, and choose how many students to take.

How much does a precepting facility earn per rotation?+−
The standard honorarium is $1,000 per rotation. Set your own rate: the standard flat fee, a higher flat fee, or an hourly rate. You decide whether we pay the honorarium to your facility or directly to the preceptor. Besides your honorarium, you also earn a $100 referral fee per rotation for any student you send us, regardless of who precepts them.
What's the difference between the honorarium and the referral fee?+−
They're two separate payments for two different things, and you can earn both for the same student.
You earn the honorarium ($1,000+ per rotation) for precepting. When a Clinical Match Me student rotates at your facility, your facility or your precepting provider receives the honorarium. It pays for the clinical training.
You earn the referral fee ($100 per rotation) for sending a student to us. You receive it no matter where that student ends up doing their rotation, including at a different facility in our network. It pays for the referral, not the training.
Who decides whether the honorarium goes to the facility or to the individual preceptor?+−
Your facility decides at signup, and you can change it any time. Many multi-provider practices route the honorarium centrally and compensate their preceptors internally however they choose. Smaller practices sometimes prefer to have us pay the precepting provider directly. Both work.
What does it cost the facility to join?+−
Nothing. Joining is free. You precept NP students, provide the clinical training environment, and earn an honorarium for it.
When and how do we get paid?+−
We pay your honorarium when the student starts their rotation and we pay referral fees monthly.
Who handles the affiliation agreement with the student's school?+−
We do. Affiliation agreements are typically the most paperwork-intensive part of student placement. We manage the back-and-forth between your facility and the school, and we work with each school's existing template and requirements rather than imposing our own.
Are we required to accept every student you send?+−
No. Review each match and accept or decline. You set your annual volume up front, but you decide on every individual placement. If a student isn't the right fit for your providers' specialty or schedule, decline and we'll re-match them.
How are students vetted?+−
Before a student reaches you, we've verified their enrollment in good standing with their school, confirmed active malpractice coverage, completed the school's affiliation paperwork on your facility's behalf, and matched the student's clinical objectives against your specialty mix.
What's a typical rotation length?+−
Rotations typically run over one semester, and the student's school program sets the exact hour requirement. Some specialties run longer. Set the weekly hours you can support.
Can we limit which schools we accept students from?+−
Yes. You can accept students from any school, restrict to specific schools you've worked with before, or keep an exclusion list of schools whose paperwork has been difficult in the past. Set this at signup and change it any time.
What happens if a rotation isn't working out?+−
Talk to us. If a student isn't meeting expectations, we work with you and the school to address it, whether that's coaching, a documented improvement plan, or ending the rotation. You can always end a placement that isn't working.
Are we exclusive to Clinical Match Me?+−
No. You can keep working with other schools and matching services. Many partner facilities use us along with the school relationships they already have.
How do we send students to Clinical Match Me?+−
The simplest approach is your referral link. Add it to a short precepting section on your website's contact page, so students looking for a preceptor click through to us.
