PA preceptors earn $250 per week for full-time rotations lasting 4-6 weeks. You set your own rate — you can charge more than the minimum if your specialty is in high demand or your schedule is tight. Payment is sent when the rotation begins, not when it ends. There’s no cap on how many students you take, so the more you mentor, the more you earn.

No. Precepting through Clinical Match Me happens within your existing practice. The student shadows you during your normal patient visits and gradually takes on more responsibility under your supervision. There’s no separate workplace, no commute, no schedule conflict. You’re not employed by us — you’re an independent licensed provider taking on a student through our platform. Most preceptors think of it as a paid side opportunity that fits inside their regular workday.
You need to be a licensed provider in good standing. We accept NPs (FNP, PMHNP, AGPCNP, AGACNP, PNP, WHNP, DNP, midwives, APRNs in any specialty), MDs, DOs, and PAs. Your license must be current and unrestricted in the state where you’ll be precepting. You’ll upload proof of licensure during the application.
NP students typically shadow you 3-4 days per week over the course of a semester. You pick the days. Early in the rotation the student mostly observes. Within a few weeks they’re taking patient histories, performing assessments, and presenting cases to you. Many preceptors say students actually make the workday more efficient because they help with intake, follow-ups, and charting. The time commitment fits around your existing patient load.
